Kesha just slammed a body-shamer last Friday in an Instagram post showing her bent over in the ocean, wearing a cheeky swimsuit, telling the user to “kiss her magical imperfect ass”.
A few months ago, Kesha and her lawyers appealed a judge’s decision to keep her recording contract with the famous producer, Dr. Luke. They argued that denying her request to release music outside of the producer’s authority is similar to “slavery,” according to an Entertainment News article. Most recently, the 29-year-old pop star still continues to fight the legal battle against her former music producer, claiming he committed sexual assault and battery against her. Although she has been seeking to validate her records, Dr. Luke has also filed a countersuit to see her medical records in citing Kesha’s claims that his abuse forced her to go to rehab in early 2014.
“I have been battling depression and an eating disorder for a while now,” she wrote in a previous Instagram post. “My career is in a strange place and it feels like I’m fighting an uphill fight some days. But I have decided to take my life back. My freedom. My happiness. My voice. My worth.”
The post she made on Instagram was from a beach vacation last month and has been a series of photos she’s made to fight back against any haters and body-shamers that would bring her down. A few weeks back, she posted on her Instagram page three photos in which she appears to be topless at the beach. The pics are cropped mid-chest and contain no captions and also included a photo showing her silhouette, flipping the bird with both hands.
“I see that you would very much like me to know that you think I’m ugly, and also a ‘whore,'” Kesha wrote in her most current Instagram post. “Well, I understand that that is your opinion, but I disagree. I’m not perfect but I’m pretty f–king magical. And also, I am not, in fact, a whore.”
Even despite the countless supporters she’s been receiving during her legal battle with Dr. Luke, there will always be those few that decide to aim their hatred at people for meticulous things such as looks. However, with the situation where her confidence levels have been steeping low because of the alleged abuse she’s received over the years in her contract, it’s probably been difficult for her to regain her steps back. As a woman trying to recover and find herself again, these little moments where she can say “kiss my ass” are moments of freedom to capture her life back.
“…bullying someone who has struggled publicly with body issues is pretty mean,” she continued. “Thank God I’m in a place in my life where I feel empowered to address your nasty comments instead of letting them destroy me,” she said. “So. On behalf of anyone anywhere who struggles with body image, STOP IT. My body is not your business. In conclusion, kiss my magical imperfect ass!”
